Dr Philip Adamson is Medical Director of the Oklahoma Foundation for Cardiovascular Research and founder of the Heart Failure Institute at Oklahoma Heart Hospital.
Dr Adamson received his MD & master's of science in cardiovascular physiology and heart failure from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He joined the faculty at the University of Oklahoma as a Warren Foundation Investigator and received funding to develop a novel model of ischemic heart failure that served to investigate the autonomic mechanisms of sudden cardiac death.
His research interests include the autonomic mechanisms involved in the genesis of lethal ventricular arrhythmias and progression of heart failure and the use of devices, such as implantable cardioverter–defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy pacemakers, to remotely monitor patients with heart failure. Additionally, Dr Adamson is involved in directing the clinical trial development of hemodynamic monitoring devices in patients with chronic heart failure.
